Molde captain Magnus Wolff Eikrem says Rosenborg deservedly win, but says the following when facing the RBK forward’s claim.
– He will be responsible for that, but he should probably look at the table one more time, Eikrem tells VG knowing that Molde has secured the silver, and Rosenborg is 27 points behind Bodø / Glimt.
– What I just said is that Rosenborg are the biggest club in Norway with the highest expectations, and we show that we are today, says a smiling Islamovic after the match.
Jingle
Rosenborg played their best game in a long time when the occasion demanded it. From the very first kick on the ball, the home team jingled in duels, and took counterattacks when the opportunity arose.
– We know that we have more space before a team like Molde. That they send a lot of people gives us room for counterattacks. Sometimes it takes two good teams to get a good football game, coach Åge Hareide tells VG after the game.
– We went too far and we are very in their long game. This is not how we want to play. We barely managed to collect six passes in a row, says Eikrem.
Molde, who rested six players from the three-day game against Rapid Wien, contributed to what was an even and fast-paced match between two good teams, with different starting points. While Molde has already secured silver, Rosenborg had to win to still have hopes of bronze medals and European Cup matches.
– We have not done anything different, but we work with the same things for a long time. When you end up in adversity, it is easy for there to be frustration. In soccer, you don’t get paid right away, but over time and with the number of reps, you get paid, Hareide says.

Classic RBK
It wasn’t more than nine minutes before Rosenborg showed that they were serious after four losses in the last five league games. Top scorer Kristoffer Zachariassen “timed” runs perfectly in the back room – or was he offside (?) – and left the ball forty-five degrees behind.
From seven meters, Dino Islamovic could not miss in the open goal, even if he was going to abuse much greater opportunities later in the match.
But it wouldn’t be long before the visiting team responded. Because even though Molde didn’t have as much to play for as Rosenborg, the battles between the two archenemies live their own lives. Coach Erling Moe probably also wanted to end Rosenborg’s long list of victories over the Trøndelag team’s Molde in Lerkendal.
Mathis Bolly threw the ball with ease. In front of the goal, Ohi hung out for a long time and finished perfectly in the corner from which the ball came out. There were no more goals in a good first half.
Ripped on the track
The second round opened like the first; with two teams both fighting for the initiative from the start. And it was the home team that smelled Molde’s blood first.
An occasional dominant Skjelbred hit what appeared to be a slightly long post against the back post. But Captain Reginiussen took the lead, went all in and sank 2-1 at the corner.
Molde lifted his team and made several substitutions, but Rosenborg did not allow themselves to be forced back into their own field and kept attacking when the opportunity arose. The aforementioned Islamovic missed two great chances as he seemed to be much easier to score.
Dinosaur show
But then.
Eight minutes before the end, Rosenborg again won the ball high in the field and the counterattack on the right. Islamovic didn’t finish, but Zachariassen came in with familiar style afterward. When he was fouled within 16 meters, referee Espen Eskås determinedly pointed to the penalty spot.
This time, Islamovic was as determined as he was elegant. Afterwards, Molde looked tired and resigned, and the home fans could use the remainder of the match time to sing warmly in the negative grades at Lerkendal.
