After a year in the Obos league, Lillestrøm is once again in the best company. It will be without the faithful couple behind Aleksander Melgalvis (31) and Simen Rafn (28).
Both came to the club in 2017 and have achieved a Norwegian championship, relegation and promotion in their years at Romerike.
– It’s sad, I have to say. I thrive very well in Lillestrøm, Melgalvis tells VG.

“Melancholy” is also the word that the colleague from behind also uses to describe that time in Åråsen is over.
“I’ve been a bit prepared for the fact that it’s been my last year, but it will be a bit like that when you’ve been here a long time,” says Rafn.
Promotion was assured when Ull / Kisa beat Sogndal at home in the penultimate round.
– At the same time, we finished in a very good way. It’s good to go out with your head up, says Melgalvis.
– I have talked a bit with my agent and I keep the possibilities open.
On Sunday, Melgalvis will play his 100th game for the club when the season ends at home against Grorud on Sunday.
– It will be fun signing up for that milestone. I’m proud to do it, and it’s a nice and dignified ending.

Rafn apparently plays his 132nd match against Grorud.
– Tomorrow it will be special to play the last game. It’s been four good years. It was very important for me to end with something positive, says Rafn about promotion.
Melgalvis did not skimp on gunpowder when he celebrated the gold cup in 2017:
From before, it is clear that Arnór Smárason will not join the club either. He continues his career at Icelandic Valur after 17 years abroad.
– I still have a lot to contribute. It is good to move home because I have also left with an injury. Delicious to end with a promotion, Smárason told VG.

Lillestrøm has several players with outgoing contracts.
– We have to make changes. Both our day to day and our training culture. We have already taken some steps, but we must accelerate further. There is nothing to wonder about. We should have renewal and stable composition changes, Geir Bakke told VG earlier this week.

– We have a dialogue with the players, we have it every day, but we have waited a bit with the conclusion. We have good plans for what we will do in “scenario A”, which was a promotion to the Elite Series. We have clear ideas about what to do in the coming weeks, sports manager Simon Mesfin said earlier this week.
P.S! Jonathan Braut Brunes has agreed to an option to extend the contract.
