- Germany – Norway 23-42 (14-22)
Norway swept through and maintained a brilliant attacking game as Germany was crushed in the second group stage match. After the first half, Norway had already managed to score 22 goals, and the Germans were never close to taking anything from the game.
The Norwegian girls did not give up until they scored 42 goals. Nora Mørk became Norway’s great player with twelve goals alongside Stine Bredal Oftedal, who played big.
– I reached my top level. We had prepared very well. We parked Germany, a great effort, said Nora Mørk after the match.
It was Stine Bredal Oftedal who was named the best in the field by a local jury. Dark pays tribute to the teammate after the game.
– She is the best handball player in the world, says Mørk.
– Everything we know that they can at their best we have seen today. We have never been so close to beating Germany. Looking ahead on the field, everything has voted, said Frode Kyvåg on Norway’s performance and continues.
– Who can take that gold from Norway? I have no answer.
– It’s final, says Joakim Hykkerud.
Two players get 9
Dream hike
On paper, it was a much tougher opponent who faced Norway than the one in the opening match against Poland. Both Germany and Norway won their first matches in Group D. While Germany defeated Romania 22-19, Norway won 35-22 over Poland.
Germany impressed a lot against Romania and star player Cristina Neagu in the opening match, but it should make it much more difficult against Norway.
Because Norway got off to a very good start to the game, especially offensively. During the first seven minutes, Norway had scored seven goals. Nora Mørk, Veronica Kristiansen and Camilla Herrem each scored two goals, while Stine Bredal Oftedal accounted for the latter. A good start for Norway, and Germany were forced to take a time out early in the match.
– We scored on almost every attack, said Joakim Hykkerud in Dagbladet’s studio.
After the time-out, the Germans moved up a bit, keeping the distance from 7-4 to 10-7. It still wasn’t good enough for Thorir Hergeirsson, who took a break. It gave results. When 20 minutes had passed, Norway led 16-9.
Norway continued to impress, and when Norway led 19-10, the Germans had to call for another break.
– This could be an overtaking, sounded from Dagbladet’s studio.
The time-out for Germany helped little, and Norway could go into halftime with a 22-14 lead.
– Small, incredibly impressive. The favorite label will not be smaller now, said Frode Kyvåg about the first round to Norway.
Now the sensation of the European Championship is Thorir’s joker
– Fantastic
Norway is still where they left off in the second round. With Nora Mørk and Stine Bredal Oftedal at the helm, Norway continued to devastate Germany.
– Norway is extremely good. This is incredible. It will be exciting to see if they can keep up the intensity, said Frode Kyvåg.
They did it. Norway played very well and the fourth of the round led Norway 34-18. Emilie Hegh Arntzen and Henny Reistad came in, and they had some wonderful goals.
– This is beautiful. As much as possible, art within a sports arena, said Frode Kyvåg about the first quarter of the second round.
Norway didn’t give up until they scored 42 goals and won the match comfortably.
Romania’s next match awaits Norway, in what will be the last group stage match before the main round.
