Norwegian politicians seem more concerned with their own image than with vulnerable refugees in need of protection.

This is a leader. The leader expresses the attitude of VG. The political editor of VG is responsible for the leader.

In the horse trade a state budget presented by the government in the financial debate in the Storting on Thursday, has ended with a kind of agreement on refugees.

First, the number will be 3,000, against the will of the FRP. Secondly, the FRP has prioritized Christian refugees, and this clearly goes against the will of KrF.

The budget agreement states that “persecuted Christians, Ahmadiya and Yezidi refugees will also have priority as a group and individuals when refugees are transferred.”

And there is nothing wrong with prioritizing different groups. The intention is that Christian and Muslim minorities who are persecuted by the Muslim majority receive protection. And it has been common to set guidelines on who Norway will receive. Many have wanted to prioritize women, gays, families with children, the Rohingya and more.

When Sylvi Listhaug argues that Christians are easier to integrate in Norway, it is a broad and controversial topic, but the potential for integration is actually a factor in the assessment.

What we are reacting to is that the parties are using this case to show themselves. The left wants queer, the FRP wants Christians.

And at the same time, we strive to protect the regulations for asylum seekers and refugees. These rules are constantly in danger of being eroded because the need is so great and because activists succeed in promoting their heart problems in public.

There must be equality before the law, whether you have a cheerleading gang or not. It is the people in need of protection who should be granted residency, not people with the right appearance, faith or disposition.

Christian refugees take priority: they can violate refugee law

But, of course, faith can lead to persecution. In their dispute with Frp, which has announced that they prioritize Christians, KrF moved in and said they will also prioritize LGBTQ refugees who are persecuted for their orientation.

Here one is not better than the other. Politicians compete to look good and refugees end up in the background.

But it is the refugees that Norway must prioritize. It is not primarily about women, homosexuals, Christians or Jesuits, but people who need protection. We will accept people who are victims of persecution. And not the Frp, Venstre and KrF fashions.
