It goes against the agreement on a budget agreement between the FRP and the government parties.
The FRP national board has been called to a meeting to approve the deal at 4pm this afternoon, NRK receives confirmation from various party sources.
On November 9, negotiations on Norway’s budget began next year. So far, they have made no progress, although FRP leader Siv Jensen announced progress in negotiations on Sunday.
The recommendation in the Storting finance committee was submitted without a majority on Friday, so the negotiations are overtime. The financial debate at the Storting will take place next Thursday.
Overtime negotiations
– The financial recommendation was presented today without a majority, but with the parties’ own comments. It is true that we are in overtime, but we are in an extraordinary situation, and along the way we have also reached an important agreement on powerful crisis measures, the leader of the finance committee, Mudassar Kapur (H), told NTB on Friday. .
County leader Geir Ugland-Jacobsen in Oslo Frp tells NRK that he is excited about the meeting that will take place digitally this afternoon.
– I hope the FRP makes a difference, a positive difference that our voters also think is good. Beyond that, I am not religious in any of the individual elements. It’s the total that counts, I’m sure the group has achieved what they can on individual points, Ugland-Jacobsen tells NRK.
Despite the agreement on a crisis package for the business community in mid-November, negotiations between the government parties Krf, Høyre and Venstre, and the parliamentary party Frp, have been slow.
FRP has always been clear that they need concessions, especially in the fields of pensions, transportation, refugee quotas, and cross-border trade.
Refugees from quotas and border trade
Tax cuts affecting cross-border goods such as soft drinks, tobacco and alcohol have been highlighted as bargaining chips.
Here, the Progress Party, which wants lower taxes, has been supported by business organizations such as NHO and Virke.
When the budget came in, the government announced that it would continue with the current quota limit of 3,000 refugees. But since fewer refugees have come to Norway this year due to the corona pandemic, the possibility also opens up for more quota refugees to come next year. This is also considered a bargaining chip.
This year, it is important for Erna Solberg and her government to have Siv Jensen and the Progress Party on the team. If the Solberg government fails to do so, it will not get a majority in its budget in the Storting.
Any budget agreement must be anchored both with the FRP and with the other parties.
