On Tuesday, the leaders of Twitter and Facebook were summoned to a congressional hearing in Washington where they had to respond to the supposed favoritism of the Democrats. The reason is that some of President Donald Trump’s messages are factual, verified, and equipped with warnings, and that some of the most extreme conspirators fomenting violence have been banned from social platforms.

Pearls grow faster
The management of the Parler instant messaging company has not been called on the carpet, but here they also do not operate with fact checks, warnings or other content control.
Parler is often referred to as “right-wing Twitter,” with many of the same technical fixes with followers, sharing, commenting, and “liking,” but so far no advertising.
Parler has more than doubled the number of users after Joe Biden was declared the winner of the US presidential election by most of the media just over a week ago. After the election, Parler is the most downloaded free app from the Apple Store and Google in the United States.
The number of users has more than doubled to around ten million in just one week. As of June this year, Parler had 1.5 million users.
For a long time, Parler served as an echo chamber for users on the right, in the company of conspiracy theorists, anti-waxers and Trump supporters.
Downloads have gained momentum after Facebook, and especially Twitter, began fact-checking and equipping Donald Trump’s posts with warnings and corrections regarding the election result.
Parliament’s popularity also accelerated after Donald Trump stepped up attacks on Twitter, Fox and other outlets.
The Mercer family pays
Parler started in 2018 and it was not clear for a long time who paid for the party. Until Rebekah Mercer posted an ad about Parler.

Rebekah Mercer (46) is the daughter of New York-based billionaire and dollar investor Robert Mercer (74). The father, and then the daughter, has for years supported the right wing of the Republican Party.
Mercer was behind the funding of Steve Bannon’s right-wing Breitbart website, in which he later transferred ownership to his daughter Rebekah. During the 2016 presidential campaign, Mercer left Senator Ted Cruz and jumped on the Trump train.
Mercer was also behind Cambridge Analytica, the company that collaboratively shared metadata with Facebook to tilt the 2016 election in Trump’s favor. Cambridge Analytica was shut down in the 2017 scandal after this was revealed, but most of the business was transferred to IT startup Emerdata, where Rebekah is at the helm.
The Mercer family is said to have been instrumental in bringing friends Steve Bannon and Kellyanne Conway to the White House after Trump’s election victory in 2016.
The Mercer family also financially supports other conservative organizations and right-wing struggles in the United States.
Report transition to the right
President Trump is now urging his supporters to report on the transition from conservative Fox News to more radical right-wing news outlets like OAN and Newsmax, where alternate realities and conspiracies are in good shape.
On social media, high-profile Republicans are now reporting a transition to Parler, such as Ted Cruz, Rudy Giuliani, Kayleigh McEnany, Devin Nunes and Rand Paul. Conservative commentators Sean Hannity, Tucker Carlson and Laura Ingraham of Fox News are also avid users.
Popular right-wing figures such as radio host Alex Jones, Milo Yiannopoulos and former Trump adviser Steve Bannon also moved to Parler after being banned from Twitter for threats and other rule violations.
Organizations and groups like Qanon and Proud Boys also use Parler.
At Parler, most things are fine, except for the smut and smut that cross a certain line and spam.
Although Parler is now the fastest growing, Twitter is the largest with around 330 million users. Facebook has around 2.6 billion users.
President Donald Trump has just over two million followers on Parler, compared to nearly 89 million followers on Twitter.
