VIENNA / OSLO (VG) Norway received the expected penalty for the canceled match against Romania in the Nations League.
The disciplinary committee of the European Football Association (UEFA) has considered today the cancellation of the match between Romania and Norway, which should have been played on Sunday night.
UEFA has decided that Norway will lose the match 0-3. It was the expected punishment, as top soccer coach Lise Klaveness told VG on Sunday, despite the NFF sending a letter to UEFA on Tuesday night asking them to either reschedule the match or decide on draw with the result 1-0 1–1 or 0–1.
While the NFF believes they were forced to cancel, UEFA has concluded that the Football Association was responsible for the match not being played.

On Wednesday night, Norway will play the final and decisive Nations League game against Austria. Norway is deploying a national emergency team after Norwegian authorities quarantined the original national team.
If the only consequence of Norway is that they lose 0-3 against Romania, it means that Norway is the winner of the group if they get a victory by a goal with a corresponding or more goal-oriented result than 3-2, or a victory with two goals or more.
In other words, a 1-0 victory will not be enough, because Austria won 2-1 in Ullevaal. Thus, they will go ahead of each other thanks to several goals away from home.
With a 2-1 win for Norway, they will tie Austria in mutual arrangement, but will get ahead on goal difference and thus win the group, as is the situation now.
