The municipality describes the situation as confusing and complicated.

Eleven school classes in five different schools are under quarantine after the outbreak in Lyngdal Municipality. The municipality states this on the website on Sunday.

A total of 172 people are in quarantine in the municipality. 11 tested positive for the coronavirus on Sunday, says City Planning and Industry Manager Kristine Valborgland.

On Saturday, it became clear that the Lyngdal Municipality is banning the events, after 43 new people tested positive for the coronavirus on Saturday. It happens that a Romanian environment organized several meetings in the Bethany congregation.

The municipality acknowledges that it has no control over the outbreak.

– So many cases of infection complicate the situation and complicate the monitoring of the infection. There is no longer control over the infection situation in Lyngdal municipality, the municipality writes on Sunday.

In addition, it establishes that all the people who have attended the meetings in the congregation in this environment are considered infected and all are subject to isolation. City Doctor Henriette Pettersen informs Lister24 that there are about 150 people involved.

– We are very sorry

The Romanian congregation leader told NRK on Saturday that they have been having a hard time in recent days.

– I really hope it does not infect someone in the risk group. We didn’t want anything bad. We are very sorry for what happened.

The director also tells NRK that they followed the infection control rules and made lists of those who were present.

On Sunday, Prime Minister Erna Solberg warns against harassment of foreign-born people in Norway.

– Many people now fall ill without us knowing exactly where they have been infected, and then there is no reason to provoke or criticize. It is still true that most people who become infected can probably trace their family roots back to many generations in Norway, Solberg tells NTB.

I’m not sure of the number of close contacts

Lyngdal Mayor Jan Kristensen says they have enough infection markers at work.

– They are tired, but take care of themselves and others. They have reported that there are now enough people, Kristensen tells VG.

He states that the infection tracing team also consists of two interpreters, since a Romanian environment organized the meetings in the Bethany congregation. He also says they haven’t asked for help with infection tracking work yet.

– It doesn’t say on staff. They want to have the coordinating role to get that overview.

The mayor is not sure how many close contacts have been notified, but he believes work is progressing quickly.

Lyngdal Municipality writes that people associated with the same environment have tested positive in Lindesnes Municipality, and that there are branches to Farsund and Søgne.

More than 200 quarantined in Lindesnes

On Saturday night, Lyngdal, Lindesnes, Farsund, Kvinesdal and Hægebostad decided to ban the events until Monday, November 16.

The Lindesnes municipality states in a press release on Sunday that they are introducing new measures to limit interaction and social activity. A total of 28 people have been diagnosed with the infection over the weekend, the municipality writes. 27 of them are associated with the Lyngdal eruption, says Lindesnes Mayor Even Tronstad Sagebakken.

– The situation is clearer than yesterday, but it is still an unresolved situation. We’re waiting for more results and then we’ll get a better overview, says Sagebakken.

The municipality now closes the cultural school, the leisure clubs, the library and the house of culture, among other places. Sports and pools will also be closed to everyone except schools. The shutdown will last the rest of the week, they write.

– We prioritize work and school, therefore we take measures that limit other social contacts, says Sagebakken.

It states that more than 200 people in the municipality are in quarantine.

The entire Vigeland ungdomsskole, both teachers and students, are now under quarantine.

At Spangereid schools, all students are quarantined, plus half of the staff. Two classes are also quarantined at Mandal High School, and a third class is quarantined until a test has been answered for a student.

An upper secondary school student who has been confirmed infected has been practicing in the home care service of the municipality. All close contacts have been mapped, quarantined and testing for these has begun, the municipality writes.

In addition, the whole family is isolated in families where several have tested positive.

Sagebakken says it has seen trends in negative comments online related to the situation.

– Now it is this environment that has ended in the situation and it has been regrettable. It is incredibly important that we are generous and take care of each other, and that we do not cause people embarrassment. People need to take care of each other.

The mayor says that he himself knows several in the relevant environment, and that there are great people who do not deserve to be hanged.

Encourage people to stay home

On Sunday evening, the Lyngdal Municipality will hold a new municipal crisis management meeting and a meeting of the presidency. Here, a decision will be made on the measures that the municipality has today, it will continue after Monday.

The municipality encourages residents to stay home as long as possible.

– The measures that have been implemented are above all to obtain an overview and control of the situation, writes the municipality.

An earlier version of this case said that municipal doctor Henriette Pettersen claims 11 new ones have tested positive for coronavirus in Lyngdal. It is wrong. It was City Manager Kristine Valborgland who reported on the number. It was corrected at 7:40 p.m.
