At midnight on Saturday night, 27,913 people infected with corona were registered in this country. This is an increase of 697 cases reported in the last 24 hours.
That’s 13 less than the record number of 710 the day before.
According to the deputy director of health Espen Rostrup Nakstad, it is unknown how the infection situation is now.
– The contagion situation may be less, but we will only see in a week. The numbers we see now is the infection from a week ago, Nakstad told TV 2 Nyhetskanalen.
Stop: – Be ready for action at Christmas.

Earlier this week, tough new measures went into effect. In Oslo and Bergen, among other things, they have introduced social closure, at the same time that the government has set a ceiling on the number of people who can meet.
Nakstad says that next week it will be interesting to see how the measures will reduce the infection.
– Next week will be exciting, because then we will really see if the infection numbers stabilize and eventually decrease as a result of the measures that were taken last week, says Nakstad.
Dramatic in Europe
In Europe, a new wave of infections is spreading across all countries. Several countries, including Germany, set a new regrettable record this week, where 23,542 people were diagnosed with coronary heart disease.
The figures in Europe worry Nakstad and they believe that some countries face the same challenge as in March.
This is the chart that gives Europe new hope
– It is a dramatic wave of infection number two in Europe. Many large countries in Europe have also had an increase in the number of admissions and are on par with March, says the deputy director of health.
Although the infection is dominant among young people, according to Nakstad, the trend is for the infection to spread to people at risk.
It refers to Sweden, where they have had more than 40 coronavirus-related deaths over several days.
– In Sweden, there is a dramatic situation that is compared to that of spring. The death toll is also starting to rise now, Nakstad says.
Light in the tunnel
The first coronary vaccines in Europe may start in early 2021, says the EU infection control agency (ECDC).
US pharmaceutical giant Pfizer and Germany’s BioNTech announced this week that their coronary vaccine appears to be successful.
According to Nakstad, there are a dozen vaccines that are in the final phase, they have different technology, which will have different effects.
– We will probably get similar results from other vaccine manufacturers in the future. The advantages are that they use different technologies with different effects and periods of immunity, then we can tailor the vaccine according to needs, says Nakstad.
– It may be necessary to travel home for Christmas
NIPH asks people traveling from high-infection areas in Norway to exercise caution for the first ten days after arriving in low-infection areas.
On its website Saturday, FHI writes that a return trip may be necessary.
– The government now advises against unnecessary domestic travel. But major trips, like coming home for Christmas, can be a necessary trip for the individual, writes the National Institute of Public Health (NIPH).
In some areas of Norway, such as Oslo and Bergen, there is now a lot of infection going on. At the same time, there are many municipalities that have hardly had contagion.
