All students returning “home” from an area with a high spread of infection are strongly encouraged to enter a voluntary 10-day quarantine.
Municipal chief doctors from several municipalities in Møre og Romsdal came on Thursday with the recommendation, which runs from 12 November until the end of the year.
The municipalities in question are Kristiansund, Molde, Hustadvika, Rauma, Aukra and Averøy.
At the moment, it is a strong recommendation and not a decision according to the Infection Control Act. However, the municipalities do not rule out making a decision if it is considered necessary.
“We are aware that a large number of students have returned home, or will do so in the near future. We are concerned that this will result in the spread of the infection to our municipalities,” Kristiansund writes in a message on his website.
The report is signed by the municipal chiefs of the mentioned municipalities.
– For those who have already returned home, we voluntarily recommend quarantine for 10 days from the day of arrival, emphasizes the deputy municipal director Britt Rakvåg Roald in the municipality of Molde in a press release.

It refers to increased infection and transmission among young adults.
By areas with high infection, municipalities mean places where there are more than 20 infected per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days. This includes Oslo and Bergen.

The municipalities refer to the spread of the infection in Oslo, Vestland and Viken and that many in the age group 20 to 39 years are infected.
As far as possible, they also recommend that these people avoid contact with people in risk groups. The quarantine must take place in a suitable place. There are no requirements for quarantined hotels.
