On Wednesday, one of the Armed Forces submarines struck an anchor rope and cut the rope at a fish farm.
This is confirmed by Ivar Moen, spokesman for the operational headquarters of the Armed Forces before VG.
– The initial assessment indicates that there is no damage to the submarine or the personnel on board, and when this happened, the submarine immediately reported and we contacted the owner of the farm.
Moen says the anchor rope was cut, which is a rope that attaches to the fish farm.
– There is a break in a mooring line, but there is no drama around this. Tonight we have a service vessel repairing the damage and the situation is under control, confirms Marius Arvesen at Kleiva Fiskefarm in Andørja, which is located in the Ibestad municipality in Troms and Finnmark.
– But the plant has several of these, so the damage done immediately appears as minor damage. A more comprehensive injury assessment will take place tomorrow, Moen says.
He tells VG that they do not want to speculate on what caused the incident.
– The most important thing now is to have an overview of the magnitude of the damage tomorrow, so that we can go back to what happened. Most importantly, no one has been hurt, Moen concludes.
The director general of the fish farm does not want to comment on the incident to VG.
