The construction case office in Trondheim Township has been inspecting the townhouse that collapsed this weekend.
The decision of the Office of Construction Cases states:
“The inspection of the property today 09.11.2020, confirms the impression that the encroachment of the supporting structure has meant that the house is about to collapse. There is a risk of personal injury if all construction work is not stopped and use of the house ceases. Property damage can now be determined. “
This means that residents of three of the townhouse apartments in Heimdal cannot move out immediately.
– We have issued an immediate suspension order for all jobs that require an application. In addition, we have issued an order for the immediate cessation of use of three of the units, says the head of the department of construction and processing of parts boxes in the eastern part of the municipality of Trondheim Trine Lill Johansen to VG.
On Sunday, a total of nine people were evacuated after the townhouse with the apartments was in danger of collapsing. Residents had heard loud knocks and crackles from the house and saw bulges on the walls.
No people were injured in the incident.
Renewal possible cause
The decision of the Building Case Office states that the houses cannot be used “Before it is documented by a responsible company that the security is in accordance with the requirements of the law.”
Resident insurance companies are working to find temporary home solutions for those unable to return home.
Assessing whether residents can move house is a matter between residents and insurance companies, according to Johansen of the Building Case Office.

– What do you know about the reason for what happened?
– A work has been carried out in one of the apartments that has caused the collapse. Now we let the developer and developers answer, before considering what happens next in the case, says Johansen.
Also last weekend, the police moved into the house in question. Then the roof had given way in connection with the demolition and renovation work. Among other things, the concrete elements must have fallen.
The post-incident inspection showed that a support structure had been demolished in connection with the work, says the If Forsikring representative who was present at the inspection.
The police dropped the case
Nyveilia district team board chair Kristian Trøan believes the near-collapse is related to last weekend’s demolition and renovation work, as well as recent rain.
– It may appear that the roof rubber has been hung up again and due to the rain it has become heavier and has dragged the facade in, Trøan told VG on Sunday.
Following the events of last weekend, the police opened an alleged investigation case.
– It was then found that there were no reasonable grounds to initiate an investigation. The case was dropped because we believe this is not a criminal case. If there has been new information after what happened this weekend, then we need to see if the case should be reopened and if investigations should be started, says police attorney Sunniva Tronvoll at Felles Criminal Case Ingesta (FSI) in the police district of Trøndelag to Adresseavisen.
VG has contacted an apartment owner, who confirms that the incident a week ago occurred in connection with the renovation, and that the additional damage on Sunday occurred in the same apartment.
