Former Manchester United player Paul Ince believes the former club panicked when Ole Gunnar Solskjær (47) was hired as a permanent coach.

Ince has spoken to the Ladbrokes betting company about Manchester United’s weak start to the Premier League season this fall. Here he talks about, among other things, when Solskjær got the job at United.

– They finished well and he got the job. It was hard not to give it to him after that. I still think that the management panicked, says the former midfielder in the interview reproduced, among others, by the Daily Mail.

This is far from the first time Ince has criticized the Norwegian. He has been a clearly critical voice in the appointment and has previously claimed that both he and “anyone” could have done the same job as Solskjær. Ince has also been tough on his characteristics as United players, like Jesse Lingard.

On Wednesday night, Manchester United will be back in action in the Champions League:

United had only one loss in the first 17 games during Solskjær, but ended the 2018/2019 season weak with two wins, two draws and eight losses in the last twelve games.

– The fans sang his name and demanded that the club give him the position, and that’s how it was. I think they should wait until the end of the season. Let him be interim manager for the rest of the season and see who’s out there, who’s the best to take the job, says Ince.

Manchester United are in 15th place with just two wins in the first six games. On Sunday, there was a 1-0 loss at home to Arsenal in Solskjær’s 100th game as the Reds’ coach.

– I’m not saying Ole isn’t the best man for the job. And taking that team to third place was a great achievement. But now I look at United compared to when I played, says Ince, adding that he believes rival teams no longer fear United in the same way as before.

In December, two years have passed since Solskjær was hired as Manchester United manager. Ince stands in contrast to other former United heroes, who have been criticized for being too nice to the Norwegian manager.
