– We see a tendency not to follow national measures, says the municipal director.

– The people of Trøndelag are not fully alert when it comes to national measures. There are many who don’t care enough, Trondheim City Manager Morten Wolden tells VG Wednesday afternoon.

The municipal director believes that the population of Trondheim is not good enough to follow national recommendations on distance and the number of close contacts, writes Adresseavisen.

– The reason we are taking this meeting now is because we have seen a significant development in the infection over the weekend, much more than we have had for a long time. So we must meet to review the situation and see what we can do.

– There is no drama, but it is necessary to consider if there are things that we should do now, he points out.

24 new infected people have been reported in the municipality over the weekend, the municipality writes in a press release Monday.

Nozzles are considered

The emergency meeting will be held on Tuesday morning. If it is decided to introduce new local measures in Trondheim, they may be announced at a press conference on Wednesday.

Among other things, Wolden reveals to VG that there is talk of introducing measures reminiscent of local measures in Oslo.

– It is probably correct to say that the possible measures will be a little more similar to what we see now in Oslo, says the municipal director.

– Among other things, it may be relevant to consider masks in public transport. We see that we have huge challenges regarding public transportation, including a huge increase in peak hour traffic between 7 and 9.

Additionally, Wolden also notes that they have recently seen a significant increase in infection from the business community, where the infection is often traced to workers who come from red countries.

– We know that a significant proportion of those coming to Trondheim via Værnes are testing themselves, but we will contact companies that have foreign employees from red countries. It is incredibly important that they test themselves and be quarantined, or possibly isolated in case of proven infection.

He emphasizes that ultimately it will be the municipal superior who makes the decision on bandages and other measures.

While he believes that local austerity measures are necessary, Wolden also fears that even more measures could prove difficult.

– We are a bit afraid of introducing too many new measures because we have already seen the weariness of the measures among the population. It can also be difficult to deal with more measurements.
