ULLEVAAL STADION (VG) Lars Lagerbäck (72) answered questions about the dispute with Alexander Sørloth (24) for the first time.
The Swede did not want to answer questions about the actual conflict with Sørloth, but focused on his irritation that the details of the meetings during the previous meeting of the national team came out on VG.
– The selection for me is for professional players, amateurs, I would call those who filter things that are not good for the team. When you create that environment, you disrupt the elite culture you want to create. Definitely not good, Lagerbäck says at Monday’s press conference at Ullevaal Stadium.
The director of the national team was very critical of the leaks and made it clear that it would be an issue that he will address with the group of players in the next collection.
– Exactly what I have said now, and a little more complementary, I will discuss with the players, about what this means, and that we must all look in the mirror if we want to be professionals.

Lagerbäck says it was never relevant to reject Sørloth from the team for this meeting. The Swede also attacked VG.
– VG has been at the forefront, based on isolated incidents that occurred that night, so it makes interpretations and speculations and does not agree with how I experienced this situation. He has made a very conscious angle and interpretation of this here that does not match my reality, says Lagerbäck, adding:
– I have not said that VG is wrong, but it does not agree with my reality.

When asked about the motto “Stronger together”, and if one is weaker in the face of this meeting after what happened, the director of the national team responds:
