Initially 15 new employees will be hired, with the possibility of further growth in the long term. Employees in Bodø will share their location with NRK Nordland and will belong to NRK’s Technology, Product and Production Division.
Broadcasting director Thor Gjermund Eriksen says it is important for NRK to strengthen its presence in the districts.
– NRK must know Norway better and we must reflect the entire population in the journalism and programs that we create. So our organization must also spread across the country. Physical proximity to people is a competitive advantage that we want to use even better, says Eriksen.
Must work with audience products
Bodø employees will be part of the technology and product development environment typically found in Oslo. The environment designs and develops, manages and operates products for the audience such as NRK TV, NRK Radio, NRK Super, YR and NRK.no.
The search for developers and a leader for the establishment of the team in Bodø is already beginning.
– We hope to recruit good people who already live in Bodø, Bodø residents who want to return home and others who are looking for exciting tasks and new challenges when moving, says CTO Heidrun Reisæter.
The NRK district office in Bodø currently houses about 40 employees. The district editor, E claim Undrum Jacobsen, is naturally very pleased that NRK is strengthening its engagement in Bodø.
– I am sure that both technology developers and our journalists can take turns and that we get a good collaboration.
The Tax Administration is also investing in Bodø
At the same time, the Tax Administration also announces seven new positions for its branch in Bodø. These are also employees who will work with technology development.
Before long, this will add almost 25 new highly skilled jobs to Bodø.
– Creating exciting and future-oriented jobs is one of the most important things we can do when building a city for the future, says Mayor Ida Pinnerød (Labor)
Pinnerød commends NRK for choosing Bodø in competition with other larger Norwegian cities.
– I think it is wise that you choose to build this knowledge environment right here, both because we have many talented people who will be able to do a good job, and also because it strengthens NRK as a media house that is also present throughout the country. .
– It is no coincidence that Bodø was chosen
The director of the District Division, Marius Lillelien, says it is not a coincidence that Bodø was chosen.
– Bodø is a rapidly growing and developing city and NRK Nordland is one of the most innovative publishing environments in all of NRK when it comes to testing new technologies to reach better people. So while the new development environment will not work directly against the content that NRK Nordland creates on a daily basis, we are sure it will be a very good match, says Marius Lillelien.
