By 2024
The goal is for all new trams to be installed on the streets of Oslo by 2024. The trams will be well tested by then, and when all tests have been approved, Sporveien will formally take over the project. Currently, the wagon manufacturer owns the project.
The trams will be standard trams with proven technology adapted to Oslo conditions. They will have a blue color that is almost identical to the color of the current tram.
Councilor Raymond Johansen (Labor Party) and Councilor for Environment and Transport Lan Marie Berg (ODM) are present during Monday’s tram fair.
The senior managers of Ruter, Sporveien and Ruter will also be present at the event.
Price: 4.2 billion

Better functionality
The new trams are something completely different from the current trams we see in Oslo’s urban landscape, Jan Rustad, Sporveien’s communications consultant, has previously told Nettavisen. It says there will be a few fewer seats to make getting on and off the tram easier for people with reduced mobility and people with strollers.
It will be much easier for this group of people to travel by tram.
– You can now board the tram directly from the platform, making it easier to get on and off with a wheelchair and strollers, he said.
Even if there are fewer seats, it shouldn’t be at the expense of the number of people who can ride the tram at the same time.
– There will be room for more people. Our ambition is to double the number of travelers by 2030, he says.
