Martin Ødegaard is said to have tested positive for coronavirus, according to several Spanish outlets, including Onda Cero and Cadena SER.
The Norwegian is said to have been tested after Real Madrid returned from Sunday’s game against Real Sociedad. That test, as the only one, should have had a positive result.
– All players are evaluated before and after each La Liga match, explains Viasat expert Petter Veland to VG, who believes that the Spanish media are credible.
Real Madrid is reported to be waiting for a new test result. The reason is that so-called PCR tests can give “false samples”, that is, an incorrect test result. If the second test is also positive, Veland has no doubt what the result will be:

Ødegaard will have to test negative before he can come out of isolation. But Veland doesn’t necessarily mean a long period off the football field.

The soccer expert assures that there must have been around 65 cases of contagion between players and support personnel in Spanish soccer and that all must have returned to their duties after the illness. The vast majority must have had asymptomatic courses.
Onda Cero writes that Real Sociedad should have tested its players on Monday, but that no test came back positive.
The news comes 16 days before Norway plays a decisive match against Serbia in the European Championship qualifiers. Ødegaard stood over the last meeting of the national teams to get ready to play. He has struggled with a knee injury for a while, which should have bothered him especially in the spring season.
