The man in his 40s accused of killing his own mother in Oslo is said to have visited the capital’s emergency room on Friday. There he is said to have provided information that prompted emergency services to notify the police.

According to VG, the man in the emergency room must have provided information that raised concerns about the man’s mother.

By not contacting the woman by phone, the emergency services sent a message of concern to the police.

The head of intelligence and investigation of the Oslo police district, Grete Lien Metlid, confirms that it was the Oslo municipal emergency service that notified the criminal service in Oslo.

Metlid says police were notified around 4:50 p.m. Friday after the emergency room failed to contact the man’s mother.

– The man was arrested an hour later, elsewhere in Oslo.

Metlid claims that the emergency services contacted the police based on the information they had received and that they did not come into contact with the woman.

– The police then went to the address and when they entered they found the person dead.

Metlid won’t say what specifically caused the concern in the emergency room.

– We can’t go into details about that now. We have to do a few more questioning before we can say more about it. The accused had been in contact with the emergency room and in that sense information had emerged that led them to worry about their mother.

Metlid tells VG that the man agrees to incarceration and that the incarceration meeting will be held as an alleged office matter, without a physical court hearing, on Monday. The deceased, who is 60, will also undergo an autopsy on Monday, he says.

– He has been in investigations into the state of health today, and there will be more investigations into the state of health and his mental condition, Metlid told NTB on Saturday night.

The man’s defender, attorney Marijana Lozic, told VG Sunday morning that her client has yet to comment on the allegation.

– You haven’t been asked about this. So far, only an initial questioning has been conducted, says the lawyer, who confirms that the man is linked to the time and place of the murder.

Metlid says there will be no further questioning of the defendant before next week.

– We must collect more information from both the emergency room / health, witnesses, relatives and defendants. Event details and moves are some of the things that need to be mapped further before we can say anything else. Reason, we cannot say anything more about now.
