One person was arrested after a man was beaten outside a nightclub in Brekstad in Ørland municipality.
– The car passed through a crowd, operations manager Frank Brevik in the Trøndelag police district tells VG.
The driver fled the scene in a Volvo V70.
The police received a report of the accident at 00.36. Several witnesses were present and the police quickly obtained an overview of the driver’s identity.
Just over an hour later, at 01:41, they report that the driver of the car has been arrested.
– The person is placed in a police car and we have called in a forensic technician, who will investigate the crime scene, says operations director Frank Brevik.
The man who was run over was taken to St. Olav’s Hospital by air ambulance.
– He was awake, but is considered to be seriously injured, says Brevik.
An additional crew was called in to search for the driver.
The operations manager told VG at 01.30 that the police had an observation of the driver, and about ten minutes later, the police stated on Twitter that the police were in control of the driver.
The driver is a man in his 40s. Police still do not know if there is a relationship between the driver and the man who was hit.
– We have not received any comments on this yet. The investigation will reveal that even more, says Brevik.
