Due to the increase in coronavirus infections in Europe, South America and North America, Hurtigruten has decided to suspend expedition cruises until the end of the year, according to a statement Thursday.
“Hurtigruten closely follows the development related to Covid-19, we are proactive when it comes to the health and safety of our guests, crew and employees as this is Hurtigruten’s number one priority. Our goal is to resume operations in January 2021, ”the report states.
Hurtigruten is expected to present the results of the external investigation into the outbreak of infection in MS “Roald Amundsen” in July on Thursday afternoon.
The report will be presented by partner Jan Fougner at the Wiersholm law firm, who has led investigative work on behalf of Wiersholm and DNV GL.

In late August, Hurtigruten announced that they had plans to get their 11 ships back into operation by the end of September.
– We have always said that the escalation plan obviously depends on the infection situation, travel restrictions and other uncertainties, said communications manager Rune Thomas Ege in an email.
In recent months, Hurtigruten has been in bad weather due to a corona eruption on the ship MS ‘Roald Amundsen’. In addition to an external investigation, a police investigation has also been launched under the leadership of the Troms Police District.
