The deceased was in the same place as the person who was admitted for methanol poisoning at the Oslo University Hospital this weekend.

Police have carried out investigations into a man who was found dead on Sunday, September 13.

– Today an autopsy was performed on the deceased, and this afternoon we received information on the autopsy, Anne Alræk Solem, the head of the murder investigation section in the Oslo police district, tells VG.

Solem says that traces of methanol have been found in the body, but emphasizes that the cause of death is not certain.

On Friday, the deceased stayed in the same apartment as the person who was treated for methanol poisoning at the Oslo University Hospital this weekend. Police see these incidents in context.

– Based on the information that has emerged in these two cases, it became natural to investigate whether the death was due to methanol poisoning, he says.

The police choose to release the information to prevent others from being harmed by dangerous methanol-containing alcohol and strongly warn against buying alcohol and alcohol from illegal merchants or individuals.

Solem says the poisonings are related to an incident that occurred Friday night and says the deceased and the person being treated are in a relationship.

– We have worked with the collection of information in the case, and we have received information that there must be four people present in this department on Friday. We have been in dialogue with one of the last two people. The person in question has been questioned and put in contact with the health service and is receiving the necessary medical follow-up.

Solem has so far received no information that he has been in contact with the last person.

Police currently do not know where the drink came from. Solem says police have no information on whether there should be more beverages containing methanol in circulation, but:

– If the public has information that could report this case or has information that there is alcohol containing methanol in circulation, contact the police as soon as possible, he says.
