The number has not been higher since June.

Recent figures from the Norwegian Health Directorate show that more than 20 corona infections have been admitted in Norwegian hospitals. This is the highest number since June 27.

But still no patient is so sick that they need respiratory treatment.

Although there has been a large increase in the number of infected after the summer, the same increase in the number of hospitalized or in the number of deaths has not been seen.

Here you can see for yourself:

One reason is, according to FHI, that so many young people are now infected. People in their 20s were at their peak of infection in both June and August, and are at low risk of getting seriously ill. This was not the case in March, when those infected were on average much older.

In a risk assessment, they also note that young people may have limited contact with the elderly and people in the risk zone, who are more likely to be admitted. FHI also believes that more testing means more cases with mild or no symptoms are detected.

New death this weekend

On Sunday, a corona patient died at the Oslo University Hospital. The hospital will not say where the person was from or how old they were.

This is the second death in the hospital in September, and the nineteenth in the hospital overall.
