On Thursday evening, the chairman of the board of directors Arild Inge Bakke at Lystgården Vokal in Landås in Bergen told NRK that 12 of the 16 who participated in the choir rehearsal had been confirmed infected.

During Thursday’s press conference in Bergen, Health Councilor Beate Husa (KrF) emphasized the importance of maintaining distance during such exercises, calling for a distance of three meters during exercises.

General Secretary Åsmund Mæhle of the Norwegian Choir Association, which organizes 30,000 of the 200,000 choir singers in Norway, will not warn about choir rehearsals.

For NTB, he notes that in some student choirs, singers have been diagnosed with infection without pointing to the choir’s rehearsal and singing activity as the crime scene or the reason for this.

It points out that the Norwegian Music Council has an infection control guide that has been approved by the Norwegian Health Directorate.

– We believe that choir is an important activity for people and that choir rehearsals are justifiable if you follow the guide. It’s still a bit like in traffic. You can never protect yourself one hundred percent. But if you follow the rules, it’s justifiable enough, he tells NRK.
