Erna Solberg on Tina Bru: –

[ad_1]

If you want to convince Erna, you have to argue objectively, and not curse. Sewing is the worst thing you knowsays Høie.

As the Prime Minister himself said the other day, he will finally be “released” after ten years as Vice Chairman of the Conservative Party. Another Rogalending enters, the Minister of Oil and Energy Tina Bru. Together they meet Dagbladet for a joint interview in Torggata’s old bathroom, which is now filled with trendy stalls with fast food from around the world.

– What do you mean by sewing in this context?

– That you, for example, tell Erna that you have to get a breakthrough because you deserve it or because you have had such a bad time. Such things don’t work. There are good arguments that apply. Erna has a very good memory and knows things in detail, so she can’t possibly think of frivolities.

Prepared

The question Høie answers at Dagbladet’s request is, in short, how 34-year-old Tina Bru can best establish herself in a leadership troika that is otherwise made up of the two political sluggers Erna Solberg and Jan Tore Sanner. The two have been leading the Conservative Party for 16 and 12 years, respectively.

Bru himself is not so concerned.

– I have some experience with this from before, she says. For four years she has participated in the weekly meetings of the Conservative work committee, as the leader of the party’s women’s forum.

– So I joined the gang. And then I became minister of state in January, says Bru.

He knows Høie’s advice well.

– Yes, you must be well prepared. And it is certainly not advisable to sew. You could almost have guessed. I also know Erna a little.

To the top?

When Tina Bru at a crown-shortened national meeting on Friday is elected the new deputy leader of the Conservative Party, it happens without a rival candidate and with full acclaim.

And the shot is the best from the boss himself, who responds in the affirmative when Dagbladet asks if Bru can make it to the top of the group.

– Yes, Tina is one of our great talents. She can go to the top. Fortunately, we are obsessed with many of them. She is skilled and good at dealing with problems. She has a great commitment to the climate and the environment, and she is a young woman with a lot of humor, says Erna Solberg.

Bent Høie, whom Tina Bru herself describes as her political mentor since Unge Høyre’s early days in Rogaland some 15 years ago, shares the Prime Minister’s view.

– I agree with Erna! So I joked about this with Tina the other day, when I wished her luck in the next ten years with Erna and Jan Tore at the helm. He’s your guard now, smile.

– Yes, because you can stay a long time, both of you?

– They can stay where they are, yes. But when the time comes, I absolutely believe that Tina is one of those who can take that job.

No fashions

Tina Bru delivered her first speech to the Storting as a deputy representative in 2010, was elected in 2013 and appointed Minister for Oil and Energy in January. At the Storting, she was a member of the energy and environment committee.

– The climate issue has been important to Erna, but it has never been my main problem or Jan Tore’s. That’s it for Tina, and it’s of great importance, says Bent Høie.

Bru himself describes himself as “in the middle of the road” in the Conservative Party. With the exception of the climate problem, he has no specific problems with her in the party leadership.

– It’s the complete hashtag with me. I’m glad that the party has come to allow egg donation, because that was an important issue for me. I have no fads left, he says.

– Speak normally

Bru says she feels at home in Erna Solberg’s Conservative Party, which she defines as a broad popular party with a social heart.

– I had not prospered so well in the old conservatives, says Bru and refers to the image of a “calculating party” that was mainly concerned with corporate policy, taxes and fees.

– I think there is a force in bringing out more of the situation in my life in the Conservative Party: I am relatively young and a mother of young children. And then I try to speak like an ordinary person, says Bru.

– Is that why you speak the eastern Norwegian dialect?

– Haha no. I have to drink some wine to get to the Rogaland dialect, but then I can!

– I can confirm it, says Bent Høie.

Moved around

Tina Bru lives in Oslo with her family, but builds a house at her home in Stavanger. There she also participated in the creation of a Kids & Kaffe café in the Kilden Mall.

The name “Bridge” comes from Rennesøy, her father was born and raised in Stavanger and she considers herself a Rogalending. But the dialect does not bear witness to any of this.

– I have lived in many places: Moss, Sandvika, Tønsberg, Åsgårdstrand, but also in the USA, Texas, Florida and Connecticut, he explains.

Bru says he hopes to continue part of the Bent Høie legacy, as vice president. She believes that he has helped spread the word about the party and says it has been important to her.

“I don’t think I would have been where I am today if it hadn’t been for Bent.” He has been an important mentor to me in all the years since I joined the Young Conservatives. It’s cheered me up, she says.

Renewal requirement

Last year, Dagbladet wrote about the demand for the renewal of much of the party’s organization in the Conservative Party, both in the party leadership and in Erna’s governing team. Even then, Tina Bru was singled out as a natural part of such a renewal.

However, there is no prospect of a palace revolution in the Conservative Party with Bru as deputy leader.

– Where the conservatives are today, the conservatives must be, he says.

– What happens then with the cooperation of the bourgeois side? Do you want to free yourself from the support leg that Frp has formed so far?

– I share Erna’s dream of meeting from the bourgeois side. Conservatives have not excluded anyone, Bru says.

– Would you like the FRP to return to the government or is it better to stay in the Storting?

– I would have preferred that all parties remained together in government, he says.

Country and game

In addition to politics, cafe management and the “Stortingsrestauranten” podcast that started with Henrik Asheim, country music and games are among his interests.

– Tina is a gamer. And she presented me with the best game in the world: “The last of us,” Parliamentary representative and party colleague Stefan Heggelund tells Dagbladet.

He says it’s the easiest thing in the world to say nice things about Tina:

– She shows up, always takes her time and genuinely cares for those around her. Besides, she’s a great person, she says.

Labor Minister Torbjørn Røe Isaksen (H) says that she is a hard worker and sometimes has a rather vulgar humor.

– It may seem that your shoulders are low, but analyze the problems thoroughly, he says.

Storting President Tone Trøen says Tina Bru is hardworking and skillful, but also positive and direct.

– She is a very good debater, who has always had a mischievous smile, a sparkle in her eyes and a positive attitude towards those she debates with, says Trøen.
