First, the clubs apologized. Now Mason Greenwood (18) and Phil Foden (20) have put toad.

For now, there are apologies from the Manchester City and Manchester United players after they broke the crown quarantine rules in Iceland and were expelled from the England team.

– I apologize to Gareth Southgate (coach of the national team), to my teammates, to the fans and also to my club and my family. I am a young player with a lot to learn, but I am aware of the great responsibility I have in representing Manchester City and England at this level, Foden writes in a statement on his Twitter account.

On the Manchester United website, there was also an apology from Mason Greenwood after the two allegedly made a lady visit the hotel in Reykjavik.

– Having had time to reflect on what happened, I can only apologize to everyone for the embarrassing situation I have caused, says Greenwood according to NTB.

– It was irresponsible on my part to break the infection control protocol that has been prepared to protect players, coaches and the public, he adds.

The youngsters, who made their national team debut against Iceland on Saturday, have been eliminated for tonight’s Nations League game against Denmark. The two had to return from Iceland to England after their teammates left for Denmark.
