The pit is aimed at content moderators who reviewed the posts and became mentally ill from the job.
This corresponds to just over NOK 523 million. Employees will receive up to $ 50,000 in treatment costs if diagnosed with, for example, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
As part of the job, content moderators should regularly view material that shows violence and abuse. They are often recruited through personnel agencies, rather than being Facebook employees.
A former content moderator sued Facebook in the fall of 2018, alleging that she had developed PTSD after nine months of work.
The deal, which has yet to be approved by a judge, will apply to more than 10,000 people in California, Texas, Arizona and Florida, who have worked for Facebook since 2015.
The minimum moderator fee is $ 1,000. As part of the deal, Facebook announces that additional steps will be taken to protect the mental health of content moderators.
Audio will be disabled as the default selection in videos and will play in black and white. Applicants must also go through a special survey to determine how tolerant they are for offensive content. (NTB)
