On Wednesday, the Norwegian Football Association (NFF) and the Norwegian Sports Association (NIF) met with health authorities. There, among other things, suggestions were made on how to reopen football.

Both the Health Directorate, including the Health Director of Bjørn Guldvog, and the Institute of Public Health were present at the meeting.

Elite Director Lise Klaveness resigned from NFF. She talks about what she experienced as a “very, very good” and “concrete” meeting.

Klaveness presented plans and scenarios on how football can gradually reopen in the near future.

– We agreed to work together to analyze the possibilities of reopening the sport within the infection control rules. It was very well received that we have tried to create solutions and have been proactive. It felt great, Klaveness tells VG.

– Are you more or less optimistic in the name of football now than before the meeting?

– We were excited and prepared very well with NIF. It may not matter if I’m an optimist or not, but I’m an optimist! Our message was heard and understood, questions were asked and our suggestions were addressed in concrete terms.

– I can’t say if football is more or less likely to reopen after this meeting, but based on the way we met, I have faith that the authorities will view sport as a serious industry, says Klaveness.

– What plans and scenarios did you present to the health authorities?

– It becomes difficult to enter specific parts of the meeting before decisions are made or we have advanced further in the dialogue. It will be completely wrong. Here we talked about presenting ideas, we were told it was a good way to do it by suggesting solutions, and then the rest should be taken up in future formal and informal discussions with specific professionals.

The Health Directorate refers to NFF in questions about Wednesday’s meeting.

There is reason to believe that Brand’s proposal for a full “crown workout,” which VG revealed Monday, was part of what was presented to health authorities.

VG knows that several meetings are planned in the coming days where the near future of football will be discussed.

The case is being updated.
