Øystein Eriksen (64) was waiting for his boat on Wednesday morning at Porsgrunn. He had been transported by truck trailer from Stavanger.
Just as the truck crossed the train crossing where Eriksen was waiting, it got stuck.
When the owner of the boat approached to help the driver, he heard the sound of a train.
– Suddenly I heard the sound of a train coming from the south. The only thing I thought about was that I had to stop the train since we couldn’t move the truck, “says Eriksen.
Just before noon on Wednesday, police in the southeast were notified of the train accident and withdrew.

“Now you have to escape,” the driver yelled at Eriksen.
The train was only about 50 meters from the truck and it approached with a storm.
– The train started honking and I realized it won’t be long before it crashes. I got off before the train hit the hanger with the boat. I only got very far, he says.
Unknown cause
At 12:22 in the morning, the police reported on Twitter that there were four passengers and three crew on the train. Healthcare attended to one of the staff for check-up, but luckily they all came from the accident with physical injuries.
When Eriksen is at the scene of the accident later in the evening, he reflects on the incident.
– Did you try to stop the train?
– Yes, there were some values and, in addition, human life could be lost. It may not have been a good idea, but it was the reaction, he says.
Although Eriksen is glad that no one was hurt, he is still a little shocked.
– I still haven’t understood. The driver later said to me, “Have you thought about what would have happened if I hadn’t called you?” Eriksen says.
There was a complete stop in train traffic between Larvik and Skien for some time after the accident.
Police still don’t know what caused the truck to stall.
