Swedish writer Maj Sjöwall (84) died after a long illness, writes Aftonbladet.
Ann-Marie Skarpt, editorial manager, announces the death of the TT news agency.
– I have known her for more than 40 years and, of course, she is a great sale. It is a great loss for all of us, ”Skarp tells Aftonbladet.
Sjöwall is considered one of the pioneers of modern Crimean literature. Swedish author team and married couple Maj Sjöwall and Per Wahlöö published their first book more than 50 years ago, and have since written several crime novels.
Among other things, they wrote ten novels about police investigator Martin Beck, which were translated into 40 languages.
The books later became a very successful television series, also on Norwegian television screens. They were also filmed multiple times.
In recent TV Crime seasons, Norwegian actor Kristofer Hivju, known for Game of Thrones, among others, has been featured in the role of Beck’s co-worker Steinar Hovland.
Just after the New Year, it was confirmed that four new Beck movies are being shot for television. They have been waiting for the premiere this fall.
