Archosaur Games, maker of Dragon Raja, today unveiled its latest MMORPG. This one is called Noah’s Heart, and it aims to offer a seamless open world to venture out, save, or just live a domestic life inside.
Humans now live in a “post-civilization era” within a strange land created by a mysterious entity. The world itself looks pretty neat, like a combination of fantasy and steampunk. If you choose to become involved in its history, you will find yourself investigating the truth behind the creator of your world and what might be in store for humanity in general.
The world is generated by procedures, although this is said to open up tons of orderly cross-cutting opportunities, with the ability to explore on foot or from the comfort of a practical aircraft. It’s also completely transparent, which presumably means the areas won’t split when loading screens.
You can gradually build relationships with in-game NPCs around the world. Meeting the locals can end up triggering special events for you to take on, and they can also provide information that might come in handy on your adventure.
During the game’s side missions, you will sometimes have to make difficult decisions that will later impact the story. For example, keeping certain characters alive during rescue attempts can move that mission in a very different direction. And once a choice has been made, there is no way to go back.
The launch of Noah’s Heart is scheduled for mobile devices next year, although it is currently unknown whether or not the global version will arrive at a later date. Based on the above screenshots and teaser, it’s even more visually stunning than Dragon Raja, which is no small feat. Procedurally generated worlds can obviously be incredibly unpredictable, but everything else the game sets out to do intrigues me. More information can be found on the game’s Facebook page.
