Update (Tuesday, July 14, 2020 1:10 PM BST): It’s official! Nintendo has confirmed that the LEGO NES console is truly the real deal. It will launch on August 1 at a price of £ 209.99 / $ 229.99, and will remain exclusive to LEGO Retail stores for the rest of the year. Starting in 2021, it will also be available at other leading retailers.
The brick NES is packed with realistic details, including an opening slot for the Game Pak with a lock feature and a controller with a patch cord and plug. The console comes with a retro TV to build, with a flat 8-bit Mario figure on the scroll screen, plus an action brick to scan with LEGO Mario (figure not included; find in set LEGO Super Mario Starter Course – 71360) so that it reacts to the enemies on the screen, obstacles and power-ups like in the game Super Mario Bros.
Original article: According to a new report that appeared online today, Nintendo will release a LEGO version of its classic NES console next month.
Chinese site VJgamer has shared a series of images, claiming that the next product includes 1: 1 brick replicas of the NES itself, the driver, a cartridge, and even a TV showing Super Mario Bros. on screen (thanks, VGC).
Owners are said to be able to open the front cover of the NES and insert the LEGO cartridge, and that the TV features a crank that can make Mario move from one side of the screen to the other. German publication PromoBricks says the set will launch for € 229 on August 1.
Earlier today, LEGO also shared the following provocation on their official Twitter account. Is there an official announcement on the way?
It has already been confirmed that the previously announced LEGO Mario sets will be released on August 1. According to this new report, the Mario figure will work with this new set of NES, connecting to the top of the TV and making sounds.
Would you like to have one of these in your hands? We will make sure to update this article if Nintendo or LEGO officially announce the new product.
