Nick Cannon has said he doesn’t approve of hate speech

Nick Cannon was fired from his MTV show Wild ‘N Out and other jobs for the channel’s parent company, which he said had promoted anti-Semitic comments.

ViacomCBS said a recent episode of its Cannon’s Class podcast “promoted hate speech and spread anti-Semitic conspiracy theories.”

In response, Cannon said he “does not tolerate hate speech or the spread of hate rhetoric.”

The star also presents The Masked Singer, made by Fox.

He created Wild ‘N Out, an improvisation series that has had 15 series, but is now coming to an end.

He has also hosted a series of shows for ViacomCBS-owned Nickelodeon channel for over 20 years, and was named president of spinoff TeenNick in 2009.

In a statement, the company said: “ViacomCBS condemns intolerance of any kind and we strongly denounce all forms of anti-Semitism.”

He added: “While we support ongoing education and dialogue in the fight against intolerance, we are deeply concerned that Nick has not recognized or apologized for perpetuating anti-Semitism, and we are ending our relationship with him.”

On the June 30 episode of Cannon’s Class, the presenter interviewed former rapper Public Enemy, Professor Griff, who left the group in 1989 after saying that the Jews were “evil”.

Professor Griff told Cannon that he was talking about Jews who controlled the media and said, “Now they hate me because I told the truth.” Cannon added: “You are talking about facts.”

The presenter called Professor Griff a “legend”. He also said that “Semitic people are black people”, and that: “You cannot be anti-Semitic when you are Semitic people.”

On social media, Cannon later said that “I had no hatred in my heart or malicious intent” and that he considered himself “responsible for this moment.”

Cannon was also criticized for comments suggesting that whites were “less” than blacks.

The star hosted America’s Got Talent on NBC from 2009 to 2016 and is launching a syndicated daytime talk show called Celebrity Call Center in September for Fox.

Cannon also hosts a morning radio show for KPWR in Los Angeles, and is the ex-husband of singer Mariah Carey.
