The NFL regular season is slated to begin on September 10, and most teams will begin training camp on July 28. The league still plans to celebrate the regular season as scheduled, despite the massive increase in coronavirus cases. across the country.
There were more than 2.7 million confirmed cases of coronavirus in the United States as of Friday afternoon, according to The New York Times, and it was attributed nearly 130,000 deaths. The county recorded more than 55,500 confirmed cases Thursday alone, too, a new single-day record. Cases are also emerging in multiple states with NFL teams, including California, Florida, Arizona, Texas, Nevada, and more.
Although a lot can happen between now and the scheduled start of the regular season, it is clear that there are still many details to be resolved when it comes to playing soccer safely amid the global pandemic. Once the league finalizes its preseason plan, whether it’s four games, two games, or a total cancellation, the regular season will surely be next.
