The league tested their new NFL uniforms, and at least one Buccaneers player is still amazed that he has now partnered with Tom Brady.

The Buffalo Bills sent their rookies home from the team’s facilities Thursday in response to five positive tests for coronavirus this week, the team told ESPN in a statement. A league source told ESPN that two players, including a rookie, tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday, and the team made the decision to hold the day’s meetings virtually.

Brate, recovered from coronavirus, says workouts were “calculated risk”

What our NFL Nation reporters heard today

Rookie Jalen Hurts spent part of his offseason in Houston working with fellow double-threat quarterback Deshaun Watson. Hurts’ communication with Carson Wentz was limited due to a lack of traditional spring hours, he said, but is eager to bond with him now that the facility is reopening. “It was great to sit in the [virtual] meetings and just listen to him talk, see how he sees the game, “Hurts said of Wentz.” I just want to keep learning and listening to those things and assimilating everything. ” – Tim McManus

Rookie cornerback Trevon Diggs didn’t have an offseason schedule to prepare for Dallas Cowboys training camp, but he had NFL experience to help him out in Miami, working with his brother, Stefon, the Buffalo Bills catcher. The youngest Diggs said he won the most battles one-on-one. “When he was in high school, we trained together every day, so it felt good to train with him again,” Trevon said. “He knows what it takes to get there. I just followed his example and competed with him every day.” – Todd Archer

When asked if six weeks is enough time to prepare for Week 1, Saints DE Cameron Jordan said: “I mean, if you said ‘Cam, could you play this Sunday at midnight?’ I guess we’d meet in the parking lot somewhere. I’m ready. ” Jordan said he assumes they all took coach Sean Payton’s directive earlier this offseason when Payton told the team to show up to camp in the best shape of their lives. Saints LT Terron Armstead agreed that six weeks can be long enough, but emphasized that the margin for error is less, which means they really have to make time count. – Mike Triplett

The Carolina Panthers added another $ 1.5 million in dead money to their already-leading league total of $ 41.2 million by releasing kicker Graham Gano. But it was an expected move, with Gano slated to count $ 4,337,500 against the 2020 salary cap and more than $ 5.2 million against the 2021 cap. Carolina withdrew $ 2.8 million in cap space as she moved on. Gano’s replacement, Joey Slye, is slated to count $ 675,000 against this year’s limit, so investment in that position is minimal. Don’t be surprised if Carolina brings another kick to push Slye. But going from Gano, who spent last season in IR, had to happen with so many needs in other positions. – David Newton

Terron Armstead, Saints OT, on New Orleans 2020 aspirations

“The first time he texted me, I had to get double confirmation from other people that he was actually Brady. He said, ‘Hi, this is Tom. Give me a FaceTime when you can.’ So I had to contact Chris [Godwin] and mike [Evans] and be like, ‘Hello. Is this Tom? Because I didn’t want to call a random guy thinking it was Tom Brady. ”
