Deathloop, Arkane’s upcoming time-based immersive sim, has been delayed until spring 2021, the studio said tweeted today. And just like that, another game of the next gen falls out of this year’s lineup.

The studio cites work-from-home and “the health and safety” of staff as reasons for the delay, and writes, “This extra time will be able to bring our team Deathloop‘s world in life with as much character and fun as you would expect from our team. ‘ The game in principle looks like Dishonored: Hitman Edition, that’s all I want from a game this fall. Hawar, 2020 has still other plans.

Deathloop used to be returned at Bethesda’s E3 2019 press conference with a movie trailer, but we learned a lot more about it during Sony’s PS5 showcase earlier this summer, including that it would be a timed console exclusive (with a simultaneous launch on PC). While this delay is not entirely unexpected, given the ongoing pandemic and the number of other games that had to shift release dates, it feels like a big hit for the early PS5 lineup.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales is currently planning to launch this holiday, as is the ever-charming-looking adventure game Bugsnax. But with the Xbox Series Xs Halo: Infinite Even if it pushes up next year, the number of reasons to jump ahead when buying a next-gen console feels like it’s shrinking through the week.
