A woman was seriously injured after an alleged kidnapping in Manawatū on Wednesday.
Around 7 in the morning, a man known to her forced a woman to board a vehicle in the Fitzherbert Ave area of Palmerston North.
They said the woman was physically assaulted by the offender while driving Marton.
The woman was able to escape the vehicle on Potaka St, Marton around 9:45 a.m. and seeking help, however, suffered serious injuries during the incident.
Later, a man was arrested at Feilding around 5 p.m. and appeared in Palmerston North District Court yesterday, April 30, charged with kidnapping.

The 28-year-old was arrested and is due to appear again on May 14.
Police investigating this incident want to speak to anyone who has seen a 2004 brown four-door Kia Rio hatchback in the Pacific Drive area of Palmerston North on Wednesday April 30, between 7 am and 8 am.
