A 33-year-old Canterbury woman has denied murdering her husband, farm worker Tony Grant Waldron.

Alana Jane Bamber, of Timaru, and Joshua Dylan Morris-Bamber, 26, of Christchurch, appeared via video link in Christchurch Superior Court in front of Judge Cameron Mander on Friday.

They are charged with the murder of Waldron, whose body was found in his bed on a property on Gardiners Rd, near Rakaia on September 18 last year.

Waldron’s body was found by a co-worker who started looking for him when he failed to show up for work.

Morris-Bamber was charged with the murder in October 2019, but it was more than a year before the police arrested Bamber for the death of her husband.

Bamber has pleaded not guilty through his defense attorney, Kerry Cook. Cook said there was no objection to joining the cases of the two defendants.

Morris-Bamber was due to go to trial on November 2, but given the new developments in the case, the trial had to be postponed.

A new trial date has been set for February 2022, but Judge Mander said attempts will be made to find an earlier available date.

Bamber and Morris-Bamber are scheduled to return to court in December.
