Why I feel uncomfortable with the White Island investigation

[ad_1]

I am very uncomfortable with the way the investigation into the Whakaari White Island eruptionis playing meincluding the charges that have been made.

As we have seen this week, cArges have been placed against 13 different parties during the eruption, including GNS and one of the pilots who actually rescued people, Mark Law. A friend of his is now trying to raise money to help him defend himself. Now Mark has not been charged for the ransom, but from the looks of it, he’s been charged with his security plans possibly in the days and weeks leading up to the eruption.

So according to him, Worksafe originally claimed that it had not properly implemented an asbestos plan and that it hada gas mask is not properly maintained

In the end, he says, he has been accused of failing to keep staff and tourists safe.

For real? Are these the most worrying aspects of that day? TThe priorities here seem completely out of place. SSurely the biggest concern of that day Isn’t it if Mark Law properly evaluated asbestos?

But what led to the decision to prevent rescuers from leaving to save injured people. Isn’t this the question we want answered? Don’t we really want to know if if we get hurt or if someone we love is hurt, our rescuers will come? That question can be answered through a royal commission or even a lower level investigation. And it should be, should be examined. Because it was wrong.

Even St. John now admits that they could have gone to the island earlier. But that investigation has been dismissed by the prime minister. And that tells me that this is all wrong, wwe are loading heroes, Iinstead of asking why they had to be heroes, because rescuers couldn’t show up.
