The Scorchers’ Sophie Devine leaves the field with a back injury against the Sydney Thunder on Sunday.
White Ferns captain Sophie Devine helped inspire her Perth Scorchers team to a fourth straight victory in the Australian Women’s Big Bash T20, but was injured late in the game.
Devine hurt his lower back while bowling and had to leave the field after the last ball of his third over. Perth, who has shot up the table, winning their last four games, will nervously await the results of the scan.
Perth’s next game is against the Melbourne Stars on Tuesday.
Devine was in the race again on Sunday, contributing 45 against the Sydney Thunder. He then took 2-12 of three overs and the Scorchers won by 34 runs.

It was the fourth straight win for the fiery Scorchers, but the severity of White Ferns star Devine’s injury could define the season.
Devine also impressed for Perth on Saturday, going 77 unbeaten on 54 balls in his nine-wicket win over the Melbourne Renegades.
White Ferns ‘staunch teammate Amy Satterthwaite contributed 48 in the Renegades’ loss to the Scorchers.
Former White Ferns hitter Rachel Priest delivered one of her career innings, going 92 unbeaten on Saturday for the Hobart Hurricanes.
Starter Priest, who last played for New Zealand in January, played a pivotal role, leading his team to a nine-wicket victory over the Sydney Sixers.
Priest struck out 92 out of 63 balls as the Hurricanes chased their goal of 140 with 11 balls to spare.
He broke 15 fours and six in his undefeated innings with Australian cricket star Ellyse Perry conceding 18 runs of his 2.1 overs.
“We didn’t just cross the line today, we crushed them,” Priest said. “For our group that’s so great, against a team of superstars. No one would have expected that.”
Priest did not fare so well in Sunday’s game against the Brisbane Heat, pitched by Australian international Jess Jonassen for 14, while the Hurricanes were brought down by 82. Brisbane easily chased their score without losing a wicket.
