Wellingtons will be able to do almost everything except shop at the local farmers market when New Zealand returns to Alert Level 2 starting Thursday.
Wellington City Council said on Monday that almost all of the council’s facilities and services would reopen when the country exits Alert Level 3, albeit under very different rules and regulations.
A series of services have already been scheduled to resume over the next week, regardless of the government’s announcement of when tier 3 restrictions would be lifted.
They included recycling in the gutter on Tuesday and the reopening of cemeteries, Wellington Gardens buildings and landfills at the southern dump on Thursday.

Five city libraries, in Johnsonville, Ngaio, Karori, Kilbirnie, and Newtown, were also due to reopen Thursday, while the Manners St and Wadestown libraries were due to open the following Monday.
Although the recycling collection would resume on Tuesday, any items collected under alert level 3 would be taken to the landfill rather than recycled.
All council-owned parks and open spaces, including sports fields, outdoor courts, tracks and trails, playgrounds, skate parks, the Berhampore Golf Course, Hataitai Velodrome, will also open under Alert Level 2. Ian Galloway BMX track, pump tracks, beaches, boat ramps and marinas.
The changing rooms on the sports fields would remain closed.
Metered parking would also resume starting Tuesday, after the council agreed last month to cancel free parking two weeks after New Zealand moved to alert level 3.
The council-managed Harborside Market would remain closed under Alert Level 2 due to a ban on gatherings of more than 100 people.
The tip store and bulk recycling center at the southern dump would also remain closed.
A council spokeswoman said the dates are still subject to change and will not end until Wednesday morning.
“Obviously, we reiterate the message to follow the government’s guidance and to play it safe.”
A Te Papa spokeswoman said the museum planned to open two weeks after New Zealand returned to alert level 2.
