Weather Service Issues Warning for Heavy Rain Over Fiordland

A severe weather advisory has been issued for the western parts of the South Island, where heavy rains are expected during Sunday and Monday.

MetService issued a warning saying a front is expected to move to Fiordland Saturday night and stay slow through Sunday. According to the weather service, between 120mm and 160mm of rain could accumulate over 24 hours from Sunday at 9am, with peak rates of 10mm to 15mm per hour.
