The executive director of the United Firefighters Association, Bill Butzbach, has been removed while the reports of bullying and harassment are being investigated.
The investigation is being conducted by an independent QC, Kristy McDonald, who will examine two complaints related to alleged sexual harassment and bullying, dating back several years.
The chairman of the UFBA board of directors, Richie Smith, said he will assume the functions of executive director while the matters are fully investigated.

Smith is urging all volunteer members with concerns to access UFBA’s advocacy service.
Butzbach and Fire and Emergency Executive Director Rhys Jones were contacted for comment.
The investigation comes as the Fire and Emergency Department faces increasing pressure for the way it handles complaints about sexual assault, harassment and bullying.
Last week, the Professional Firefighters Union did not express confidence in FENZ’s leadership over its handling of complaints and said it was representing at least 10 volunteers who have lost faith in UFBA to defend them.
