Joe Root scored 128 runs on the opening day of England’s test series against India.
Virat Kohli of India proved that sportsmanship is alive and well in test cricket after coming to the aid of Englishman Joe Root.
After a series of bitter and short-tempered tests against Australia, the Indian team is back home to face England and Kohli proved there is no animosity towards his new opponents, by helping England’s batter when he was suffering from cramps.
Root had an excellent opening day for the first round of the series, scoring 128 undefeated runs as he helped his country go from 63-2 to 263-3 late in the game.
But at the end of the day’s action and after landing a six on Ravichandran Ashwin, Root fell to the ground with a cramp.

The Indian captain approached Root and helped straighten his right leg to ease the pain, before the England physio could reach the center.
Both teams are battling for a chance to face New Zealand in the test championship final at Lord’s in June.
But even though the stakes are high, it has already become clear that both teams are determined to play the game the right way.
That compares in stark contrast to the recent series between Australia and India.
The series will be best remembered for the bitterness between the two teams, particularly with Australia captain Tim Paine sledding towards Ashwin in the Sydney test.
“I can’t wait to get you to Gabba Ash. I’ll tell you what woo hoo,” Paine said to Ashwin.
“Just like we want to take you to India, that will be your last series,” Ashwin replied.
“Maybe. Are you a selector here too? Paine asked.
“At least my teammates like me, you idiot. I have many more Indian friends than you. “Even your teammates think you are a goose. It’s not like that? Each one of them.”
If anyone needs to remember, India won the Gabba event by three wickets to clinch the series.
