A driver diverted another vehicle 100 meters across a busy road and entered a front yard after suffering a medical condition.

The incident occurred around 3 p.m. Thursday on Kaikorai Valley Rd, Acting Sergeant Major Anthony Bond said.

The 62-year-old driver had a medical episode while driving north, causing her to step on the gas and hit a parked Ute.

The empty ute was diverted 100 meters diagonally across the road and onto a property near a local police station.

The woman was taken to Dunedin hospital and police had not yet spoken to her, Bond said.

Both vehicles suffered significant damage and the police had to collect debris from around the property.

Police attended another medical event that involved another driver about an hour later.

A 22-year-old woman, who was driving with three children aged 4 and under, lost control after fainting while traveling down Glen Rd.

The woman was taken to Dunedin Hospital as a precaution.

Also Thursday, Dunedin police spoke with two young men who were standing on a Quarry Rd exit ramp and taking pictures of passing trucks, Bond said.

Police moved them to a safer area around 6 p.m., and moments later they used a scanner to broadcast an apology for the police network.

The police seized the scanner.
