An American family is using their fatal slip as a warning for others to be more vigilant.
Given the long incubation period of the coronavirus, it can be difficult to know which events cause a massive spread in the community. Still, a Chicago-area family is using his fatal slip as a warning for others to be more vigilant.
Mike and Carol Bruno died ten days before complications from the coronavirus after sitting on their son’s haircut at their daughter’s house a few days before Thanksgiving.
“We never thought this would happen to our family, and it did. This virus is really relentless and it only attacks in a really cruel way,” his son Joe Bruno told WECT.
The virus began to spread through the family after a haircut on November 20. Bruno’s sister, who had tested negative for the virus a few days earlier, cut her hair at home and took her mother away.

“My sister works in a salon, so just before Thanksgiving, my sister took a Covid test and it came back negative. He was quarantined for three to four days after he got the negative test. I needed a haircut and she said, ‘Well why don’t I go cut your hair so you don’t have to go into the salon?’ ”Bruno explained.
He went on to say that they took several precautions to avoid contracting the virus.
“I didn’t hug my mom. I didn’t hug my sister. My sister cut my hair. It was masked and all the windows were open. They separated us in my apartment and then they left, ”said Bruno.
“They had finished for about 40 to 45 minutes. Later that night, my sister began to feel symptoms. About three days later, I started to feel symptoms. “
In total, six members of the extended Bruno family contracted Covid-19. Mike and Carol passed away earlier this month. Joe blames himself for the death of his parents.
“If I had made that sacrifice and, you know, I hadn’t spent 30 to 40 minutes with my mom, they would still be here,” Bruno said.
