After days of waiting, the United States elected a president, after hearing the news of Joe Biden’s election, many cried, including Lizzo.
A watery-eyed, stunned Lizzo posted a four-minute video on her Instagram just hours after Biden’s win was announced.
“There are few times in this country where I have hope, I feel that every time I have hope they take it away from me.”
Throughout Trump’s four years in office, Lizzo has one of her harshest critics criticizing the president multiple times online.
“At this time I was hopeful and scared and I think Trump is out of office … officially,” he said.
“I think this is the end of that four-year period that felt like 1000 years,” Lizzo said with teary eyes.
“Where people lost their lives, their livelihoods, this country fell into a pandemic, a recession and you can’t really blame a president for things, but you can blame them for how they run it and it was so badly managed and I Feel so”. invisible and so careless.
“If you’re blue or red, that man doesn’t care about you.
“And I’m very excited to see a black woman in the White House, a brown woman in the White House, an American Indian woman in the White House.”
Fans and friends inundated her with comments and praise.
“Sorry too sweetie,” wrote one person. “We are crying with you,” wrote another.
“This rampant white supremacy can no longer be tolerated.”
“I’m excited, I’m hopeful and I’m happy and proud of the patience we all had, I’m proud of the voter, I’m proud of the protester, I’m proud of the protesters.
“This is not the end, it is literally the beginning of progress.”
Towards the end of the video cheers can be heard in the distance.
“They’re celebrating out there, I hope you guys are celebrating too.”
He ended the four-minute video with five words, “Let’s get to work in America.”
