The British war veteran who raised millions for medical staff during the coronavirus pandemic has revealed he was caught speeding at age 98.
Sir Tom Moore received international recognition after raising more than NZ $ 63 million for NHS health personnel fighting the Covid-19 pandemic by hanging around his garden in England.
The 100-year-old captain was even knighted by the Queen in July for his efforts.
During a television interview with ITV Life stories, Moore told host Piers Morgan that about two years ago he had been caught speeding and had to take a driving awareness course as a result.

“That wasn’t fair,” he said on the show.
“I mean 38 mph (56 km / h) for someone like me. Was nothing. I attended one of these speed awareness courses. Having had to pay, it cost you more than your points. “
During the interview, which aired in the UK on Sunday, Moore jokingly described the course as “boring.”

In his youth, Moore served in World War II and completed positions in India and Burma.
Moore’s initial fundraising goal for the NHS had been simple: he wanted to raise £ 1000 by walking 100 laps around his Bedfordshire garden with his walker.
After the British public and then the global media learned of Moore’s appeal, donations flooded in. She received worldwide accolades for her efforts, as well as donations, thousands of birthday cards, and “many honors,” including knighthood.

When asked earlier in the year why he was raising money for medical staff, he said The Guardian: “Our brave nurses and doctors are on the front line in this case … this time our army is in doctor and nurse uniforms and they are doing a wonderful job.”
Speaking in Life stories, Moore said she very much enjoyed meeting the Queen.
“He spoke with my whole family and it was a great privilege. That was the best moment. “
