Police arrested two women after conducting search warrants at Invercargill.

Two women with gang connections have been arrested and face drug charges in Invercargill.

Acting Detective Sergeant Major Greg Baird said investigations into an aggravated robbery and kidnapping in Invercargill on Nov. 19 continue, and that five more search warrants are being carried out in the past three weeks.

As a result, two women, ages 25 and 34, have been charged with possession of methamphetamine for supply.

The 34-year-old woman has also been charged in connection with an aggravated robbery in Invercargill on December 6.

A stolen vehicle has also been recovered.

Those involved in the crime have gang connections, Baird said.

“The police will not tolerate this type of violent behavior and we will continue to closely monitor and take a proactive approach to disrupt and combat this type of crime in our communities.”

Investigations into both incidents are ongoing and more arrests and charges are being considered, he said.
