Two seriously injured in Christchurch suburban crash

Three people were injured and a road was closed after two cars collided in Dallington, Christchurch.

A police spokeswoman said they attended a two-car accident on Gayhurst Rd, between Katie Ln and Achilles St, around 4.50 pm on Friday.

A spokeswoman for St John said two people were seriously injured and another moderately injured. All three were taken to Christchurch Hospital.

New Zealand Fire and Emergency spokesman Mau Barbara said two crews attended and assisted a person who was trapped in a vehicle.

The Christchurch Transportation Operations Center said Gayhurst Rd was closed due to a “serious accident” and it was unclear when the highway would reopen.
